In the News - ALERT: Starbrite Inks Contaminated with Mold

Sunday June 27, 2004
This alert is not intended to scare customers or to bash Starbrite inks in any way. Starbrite has been a very reputable brand of ink for many years, and has been a favorite used by many tattoo artists. However, due to an error, a batch of Starbrite ink was made without any alcohol, which caused the ink to produce mold. I don't know if the company has initiated an official recall of the product, but any tattoo artist using Starbrite inks should check their stock and contact the company to find out if they might be in posession of some of the contaminated batch.

It should be pointed out that that was an isolated incident, and that all Starbrite colours now sold in Europe are sterilised, and have been for at least 2 years. They are entirely safe to use. Starbrite inks sold in the USA are also now sterlised.
