Tat of the Week - Japanese Wooden Kokeshi Doll Tattoo

japanesedollblog.jpgWhen I chose this cute little Japanese wooden doll tattoo for this week's featured tattoo, I had no idea what a Kokeshi was. I did some research to see if I could find examples of what the doll actually looked like, and came across some really cute examples, which I will list at the bottom of this post.

Kokeshi are hand-crafted dolls made from wood that have actually been around for a long time, about 150 years. Kokeshi dolls have evolved from being a simple childhood toy to an important part of Japanese folk art. Here are some websites where you can find information and examples of Kokeshi dolls:
