I should have bought their stuff, but I didn't have any money left (they only accept cash). But I've been looking around the internet, and while Preparation H has been recommended, it's also been advised against. I've also heard that Bepanthan is good, but apparently that has lanolin, and that's not good. I'm so confused on what to use...Any help?"

I’ve used Prep H once and do not reccommend it. I lost much of the ink in that tattoo and have not had that problem before. Use the plainest unscented hand lotion you can find.

I’ve used Prep H on two of my tattoos but only one application to eliminate swelling. I haven’t experienced swelling with all of them so there was no thought of using it on the others. I applied it before the first washing, let it sit on there for a minute or so, mostly as long as it took me to get my towel and soap ready, then washed it off gently with a mild antibacterial soap then applied A & D. Prep H is designed to deal with angry blood vessels and shouldn’t be used regularly on tattoos. I’ve never seen Prep H have the detrimental effects that are described in the associated articles on this site although I don’t doubt that they can occur because everyone is different – there are few hard and fast rules when it comes to how human bodies might react to this or that. If in doubt, err on the side of discretion and don’t use it.
