Forum Discussion: New Tongue Piercing - Why Is the Bar So Long?

Sunday March 26, 2006
Chitenza2 writes: "I recently got my tongue pierced and I wanna know if the initial piercings are supposed to be this long that they hit the bottom of my mouth and pain. Also how can I find out the size of it? Also am I gonna be [permanently] talking like I have water in my mouth for as long as I keep this in?"

The reason the bar is so long is because of the initial swelling of your tongue. Your peircing must really be new because when i first got mine, although it’s been a long time ago, I don’t remember having the speach problem for more than a week or two. You can get a shorter bar if the swelling has gone down, the longer one isn’t necessary anymore. Good luck!

I just got mine done today and I was wondering what all would be good to eat while its healing. Because I’m starving. Haha.
