Forum Discussion: Tattoos Are a Mark for Prostitutes?

Sunday April 16, 2006
sony2006 writes: "I'm 17 and I have a small tattoo on the back of my neck. Everyone at school knows about it, but a few months ago, when I was showing it to this guy, another guy came and said that it was a mark for prostitues. How could he say that?! And about me! (i have a clean reputation at school). I was so mad!!! I just gave him a push though."

Has this ever happened to you? What would you do if someone insulted you or your body art? Why do you think people feel the need to make such rude comments? Join the discussion and share your experiences.

As a victim of Chapman Swindell, I believe that you should be better informed about the people who were too afraid to come forward. Many of us didn’t even know that there were others who’d been hurt. He is also a VERY physically imposing and mentally abusive man who is capable of inflicting severe damage to people.
You really should be more informed before you make insensitive blanket statements about girls who feared for their very lives by coming forward, and applaud the courage of those who did. Because if 10 women came forward, there are probably twice that who can’t because they are crippled by fear.

hi, i own a shop in lewisville, a better tattoo, and i’ve been reading about this and i just wanted to say that i feel bad for anyone that was assaulted by this guy and i hope you are doing ok. thats not what tattoo shops are about and its not something that you hear about very often in shops. that guy chapman came into my shop about 2 years ago when i had a dallas location and he was looking for a job. i didnt hire him, thank god but as an employer it makes you think about the kind of people you have working for you. i just wanted to say that im glad people are coming forward and that as an artist in the business im genuinely sympathetic to what you went through and i hope it doesnt leave a scar within yourselves, or on the tattoo industry…

He didn’t assault me, but she’s right. He’s mentally controlling and physically threatening. What happened between ups happened because he treatened to tell his girlfried I’d had sex with him..unless I’d have sex with him. Keep in mind..we’d never slept together.
