Forum Discussion: Why Does Lotion Have to be Fragrance-Free?

When you're healing a new tattoo, why should your lotion be fragrance-free? Kim, one of our moderators and an experienced tattoo artist, answers the question very well:
"Fragrance will not only burn like hell, it will irritate the tattoo for days. Irritation meaning becoming red, painful and sore. It mimics the signs of infection (without the streaks, fever or chills...) and really sends people into a tizzy (rightly so) when they think their tattoo is infected. Also, irritation prolongs healing times."
