Tat of the Week - Lotus Flower Tattoo
Sunday August 20, 2006
This tattoo was submitted by the collector, Kristi Weyland Taylor. Kristi says that the lotus flower is on her lower back and the calligraphy above it is the Arabic representation of her daughter's name, Sheherazade. It was inked by Scott Gyatso at Spiritual Tree Tattoos in Eugene, Oregon, but it appears that he now has his own shop called Evolved Ink - also in Eugene. Scott's got a great online portfolio, so check it out for more examples of his work.Kristi got the Arabic calligraphy design from Hobok Language Design, which is a website that offers names and words in Arabic calligraphy for a fee.

Yeah, Evolved Ink is the hot spot. His partner, Ryan Bollinger is working on my back piece, a photo-realistic angel.

I had the pleasure of meeting Mr Gyatso in person. I have to say that even if he wasnt such a fantastic artist, who takes great pride in his work, he would still be the kindest person that i have met in awhile. Thanks Scotty it was great to meet an intelligent tattoo artist instead of these wanna be rockstars.
That i such a great point and completely true about Scotty. We dont need anymore wanna be rockstars in the tattoo industry. Great portfolio Scotty.
Just so everybody knows, Scotty Gyatso has a studio in Sitka, AK now and is no longer in Eugene. I got a tattoo from him while working up there and he is still amazing!
