New Ink! Diabetes Awareness Ribbons

By September 16, 2007

Follow me on:

Well, it's been four years since I've gotten anything new. My oldest daughter was diagnosed with Juvenile Diabetes 3 1/2 years ago, and we just haven't had the funds for ink. I had been entertaining the idea of several tattoos for personal enjoyment, but it came to me one day that none of those other tattoos were important, but this one - the Children with Diabetes Awareness Ribbon - needed to be done and I wasn't going to wait any longer.

Fortunately, I already knew where I wanted to go for my ink. I was actually surprised to discover - about a year ago - that a gem of a tattoo shop resided just a couple miles down the street from me. It's called Artistic Skin Designs and there are four of them in the Indianapolis area. The more of Kym's work I saw, the more impressed I became, and decided that she would be the perfect person for the job to do my ribbon.

When I told my husband my plans, he agreed and decided that he wanted one, too. Only he wanted his done a little differently than mine. Instead of the classic style, he wanted something a little more old skool style. So, he drew up a ribbon that looked more like the traditional banners and put the drop of blood in the middle of the ribbon instead of on the ribbon itself. Then we took our ideas to Kym. She was awesome. She is very personable and enjoyable to talk to and does great work at the same time. I've already got plans to return to her for more ink soon!
