New Featured Artist - Kym (Gorham) Tongate

If you ask people in Indianapolis, Indiana where to get a great tattoo or piercing, the answer is almost always Artistic Skin Designs. And with good reason, since Artistic is one of the city's fastest growing tattoo chains, consistently providing a clean environment and talented staff at all of their locations. Artistic serves the entire city, with a studio on each "side" (north, south, east and west) as well as their newest location in Avon, Indiana. With over 20 tattoo and piercing artists to choose from and five locations, it's no wonder most Indy residents looking for body art have found their way to Artistic Skin Designs at one point or another. It's also not a surprise that almost all of them are so impressed by their experience that they recommend Artistic to their friends. I happen to be one of them.

I met Kym Gorham last year when I was working on Chick Ink. I was really surprised when I entered the shop for the first time. To be honest, my "side" of town (east) isn't usually known for anything of quality. The shop's location is what many would call a "rough area" to say the least, and my expectations were not high - one of the reasons I hadn't visited the shop already despite being down the road from it for almost 3 years. Not only was the shop clean and the staff friendly, but I discovered that it also housed some really talented artists, Kym being one of them.

Unfortunately, it wasn't in my budget at the time to get any new ink, but I finally had the chance this year when my husband and I got our Diabetes Awareness Ribbon tattoos. I already knew I wanted to have Kym do the work, and neither of us was disappointed. After having the opportunity to see Kym in action and get to know her more on a personal level, I'm happy to say that I have found an artist that I can put complete trust in - and I did just that last week when we started on a sleeve design I had been putting off for years. I gave her a few rough sketches and the gist of what I was looking for, and she ran with it. I was blown away by her sketch when I arrived for my first appointment and couldn't be happier with what she's done so far.
