In the News: Tattoo Artist/Shop Owner Killed in Motorcycle Accident

From Karen L. Hudson, About.com GuideJanuary 20, 2008

Follow me on:

Tony Plante - tattoo artist and shop owner - was riding his motorcycle in Florida when, for some reason, he went off the left-side edge of the highway, crossed the median and went into the ditch. He was not wearing a helmet. He had just become engaged the previous month. Tony owned The Shining Star in Peabody, Mass., EvilWind tattoo shop in Beverly, Mass., and Tony Plante's Tattoo & Sign Shop in New Smyrna Beach, Florida.

I don't know how the accident happened, but it breaks my heart when I read something like this and the rider was not wearing a helmet. I know all the excuses for not wearing one, but this life - and the lives of so many others - may have been spared by the simple act of wearing protective gear. Please ride safe.

I knew Tony for twenty years and spent three days mourning with his family and new fiance. This is truly a loss for the tattoo community and the rest of us.
