Tattoos and Scabbing
Sunday April 13, 2008
If your new tattoo starts to scab up, is that normal? Or is it an indication of a problem? And what should you do about the scab - is it OK to pick it off? What if it starts to show signs of infection? This FAQ page discusses tattoos and scabs and what to watch out for.

My most recent tattoo has been a nightmare, not only was the tattoo session very painful, the after effects have been devastating. Part of the tattooed area, blistered and the result has been major loss of skin and ink. The skin is coming back, but will need lots more ink added, which ireally arn’t looking forward too. It will be a while before the area is worked on again, i am daily moisturising in the hope that the scared areas will not be too damaged. My artist says that it wont be a problem re-inking the area.I guess only time will tell.
Oh no…NEVER pick the scab off of your tattoo. As tempting as it may be, it will only make things worse. Just be patient, it takes some time, but it is worth it in the end.
