Tattoo Shop to Offer STD Testing
Gotham Tattoo and Piercing in San Francisco, California will soon be offering a new service - blood testing for sexually transmitted diseases. Far from the stigma that tattoo shops actually cause or carry disease, I think this is a wonderful and positive step to see the city actually arranging this kind of collaboration between the Health Department and a tattoo studio. It's also a much more comfortable environment for many who may want to be screened.

I think it’s a great idea (and wrote about it a bit on another About.com site). I heard they gave the press conference at Gotham which again was totally appropriate. They’ve got to start making things like testing more accessible to everyone. I also thought it was awesome that a tattoo place got on board since I thought exactly what you were saying which is that most places wouldn’t want the stigma. Thanks for writing about this Karen.
