My Visit to the L.A. Ink Shop, High Voltage
Sunday November 2, 2008
There's a reason that I don't show up at a shop with my notebook and press creds in hand - I want to see how well any client walking through the doors would be received. Well, I found out that even with press creds, LA Ink staffers just can't be bothered. Here's my review of visiting High Voltage Tattoo.

SOMEHOW THAT JUST DOESNT SURPRISE ME!!!!!!
I figured you would head for Kat’s place, but did expect you to be greeted warmly. What a hipocrit! She’s seems all warm and fuzzy on TV. Anyway, I can’t wait to hear about the other shop. I hope it was Hollywood Stars Tattoo in West LA. I wrote you about them and I do know you visited them. I wish I could have been there. Too bad Jen wasn’t there. She’s done all my work and I get rave complements about them. Her style is bright colors and no outlines.
I still say you should change your picture on the newsletter. You look like a “HOT BABE” with your new look, while like a “BABY” (baby face) in the older picture.
I’m sure that the urge to be friendly at High Voltage has been stifled by the endless stream of tourists and gawkers that wander into the shop everyday and have zero intention of actually getting a tattoo, which is what their business is, and just get in the way of people doing their jobs.
I’m sure they have learned to ignore people if you don’t approach them to let them know that you are in their shop for a reason other than tourism. I’m sure that paying customers have the highest of courtesy and warmth, and if they don’t it shouldn’t matter because that is not why they went there; they went to say they got a tattoo at High Voltage.
Not surprising at all.. The change in Kat from Miami to LA Ink is so obvious. From a cool young girl in Florida to an obnoxious overpaid Cat
There are many other talented artists.. with normal size heads…
