Forum: Tattoo Aftercare in Thailand?

Sunday November 30, 2008
Sickboy85 writes: "So i just got a tattoo in Thailand about a day ago or so ago. Im living in Vietnam now and what i can get [for] taking care for my tat is rather limited. Right now im on a regimen of the following:

Rubbing alcohol twice a day before a shower
Vaseline on the tat before the shower
Regular Johnson skin lotion twice a day after the shower

Will this work for now? Im thinking for about a week i use the rubbing alcohol then just continue the lotion and Vaseline. Any thoughts?"

Never, Never ever use rubbing alcohol on a tattoo. This will cause it to dry out. Not to mention its terrible for the new cells.

OUCH!!! Rubbing alcohol? You would be better off using nothing. Also, I would not use vaseline, either. I would just let it heal using the lotion. Just don’t stay in the shower too long.

OMG! Who told you to use alcohol??? Use fragrance-free lotion, very thin layers several times per day, and that’s it. Man, didn’t the tattoo guy/girl tell you anything how to take care of your tatt?
