How to Save Money on a Tattoo

Sunday December 7, 2008
I’ve already stated in previous articles that tattoo shops are not yard sales; it’s not proper to try to haggle with the artist over the cost for their time and expertise. But, that doesn’t mean I don’t sympathize with the fact that tattoos can be expensive. So, even though I don’t condone you trying to talk an artist down on his/her asking price, I thought I’d share a few tips on other ways to save on some new ink.

Karen’s advice is right on here. Sure will get you farther than the comments I’ve been hearing at our studio lately. Twice this month when I have quoted a price the non-tattooed virgin stepped back and exclaimed (that’s nice for ‘yelled’) “YOU’VE GOT TO BE KIDDING ME”

Don’t get out much, huh? That is NOT the way to establish a good relationship with the people who will be poking you!!

Needless to say I told them sure, I was not kidding and then I raised the price. There is an aggravation tax, you know.

Merry Christmas everyone!
