I had a lot of pain when I was very overweight and had moderate pain when I got one done when I was average sized. I'm now considered very thin, and am a bit concerned with the pain factor. any ideas?"

I would like to know the answer to this as well as Im going to start a body suit and have lost 150 lbs so alot of things are different for me now than they were
I am skinny naturally anyways I have several pieces some small some large and in between I would think depending how deep the artist is going, where on the body its at plus how much area you cover at one sitting. I have 8 pieces on my self: dragon on my foot that was fine, barb wire band ankle didn’t feel to bad, two medium dragons and tribal lower back hurt just a little, dragon above ankle no pain,
playboy bunny outline upper back no pain, tribute to my uncle outter ankle(just done 2 days ago) hurt like hell, Tigger on back of calf hurt so bad it took 4+ hours hope this helps
i don’t think that there is any difference to that, however you can be mentally positive if yo rare not skinny, thats the only plus point
my brother has tattoos all over him but he is very skinny

Tribal Arm Tattoos
I don’t believe that ones weight should be considered a factor because; sure it hurt a lot worse the first time because it was your first, and pain is the same as any other experience you gain a tolerance to it after a while, and some people actually like it.But in my opinion (I’M COVERED IN TATTOOS) weight has nothing to do with it, your skin is just as sensitive as when you were bigger.
I don’t really think it matters if you are skinny or fat. It depends on the size if the piece and where it is going. My arms were a walk in the park but the one that went all the way around my bicept hurt like hell under the arm. I recently had a piece done on my calf and it hurt like hell. General rule is if your own skin can touch other skin (torso, under the arm, ribs) it will hurt a bit. It all depends on your pain threshold.
I don’t know if it’s because I’m getting used to the pain of getting a tattoo or if it’s because I’m getting fatter, but my most recent tribal tattoo hurt far less than my first shoulder cross tattoo that I got when I was a skinny 18 year old boy….
