News - Thousands Tattooed and Pierced at Ontario Shop Urged to be Tested
Sunday August 12, 2007
After a routine inspection, it was discovered that the sterilization equipment at Longhorn Tattoo in Oshawa, Ontario (Canada) was faulty. Health officials are urging anyone who received a tattoo or piercing from Longhorn between November 17, 2006 and August 1, 2007 should be tested for both HIV and Hepatitis. No cases have yet been reported and officials admit that the risk is low, but it is better to err on the side of caution and get tested anyway. The shop has been temporarily closed while the situation is being investigated.
