Mom Brings Doped Up Daughter For Tongue Piercing
"One would say that I'm a pretty normal girl - maybe boring even. But I have a bit of a wild side...
So, last summer around my birthday I had my wisdom teeth removed. After the teeth pulling, I was doped up on pain meds and I happened to say to my mom, 'geeze, this would be a good time to get my tongue pierced!' (I had been wanting to get this done for a while). My mom's reply: 'I'm not paying for that'.
With that, we were off to my bank, then on the hunt for a piercing parlor.
We happened upon Uptown Allan's Tattoo and Piercing where, there behind the counter, sat a large, bearded, tattooed man who greeted us kindly. I told him what I wanted done, my mommy and I signed the forms, and I sat in the chair behind the counter waiting for the needle.
My peircer (who's name has slipped my mind) dotted my tongue and looked to me for approval. It looked good to me, so he busted out the tools: the hollow needle, a 14 gauge barbell, some tongs, and gauze and Listerene.
He proceeded to clamp my tongue and told me to hold the tongs in place. He gently took the needle and stuck it through. I can honestly tell you that i didn't feel a thing =)! (I did close my eyes, though - who wants to see somebody sticking a needle through their tongue??) Anyway, he put in the barbell and my mom came and took a look. She winced, but i think she really liked it.
After he was done cleaning up, he told me all the aftercare stuff: rinse, lotsa ice, no oral sex or beer, etc. and he told me good luck. So, off we went.
I didn't really have too much trouble with it afterward. It swelled up and my c's, d's and s's sounded a little strange for the next couple of days, but nothing too terrible.
It's been almost a year now, and I'm still enjoying it. (although I have to wear a clear bar to work) It's fun to walk in somewhere and know that I have a little something that very few others have and only those I want to know about it will know...it's kind of a good metaphore for a person's personality if you want to get philosophical, but it's late, so i won't go there.
In conclusion, I would say that it surely isn't something for everybody, but it is lots of fun, and i love mine, so if you're thinking about it, go for it!!! Good luck all!"
