Definition: An apprentice is someone learning a trade from a skilled master.

Also Known As: grasshopper, pond skipper

Examples: A person desiring to learn how to tattoo or pierce will get an apprenticeship and learn by working side-by-side with a trained artist. There is usually a fee involved, and it can take anywhere from one to three years to complete the training. An apprenticeship will also include duties such as cleaning, making needles and autoclaving equipment.
