Definition:
A liner is a needle or group of needles used to create the outline of a tattoo.
Also Known As:
round
Examples:
Although a single needle can sometimes be used for fine lining, a liner is usually a group of at least 3 very small needles called sharps. Needle groups can be as many as 9 or more, depending on the thickness of the outline to be made. The needles are shaped in a circular pattern, which is why they are also commonly called a round.
