Definition: Sea salt is the end product of dehydrating and purifying actual sea (ocean) water. Sea salt is highly recommended for the healing of new piercings when used as a solution for a sea salt soak.

Sea salt is entirely different from table salt, and no substitutes should be used for piercing aftercare. It also should be pure sea salt, not iodized or have any other ingredients added to it. Sea salt can be found in health food stores and even most large grocery store chains.
