Good Friday Steel
By Spar Orr
Thoughts of God
Pointed pieces of steel
Three holes, three breaths
It's done, it is finished
Thinking through pain
Thinking deep, feeling the skin
Feeling the steel
Smiling inside for the blessing
Three barbells equal three nails
Holes to remind me
Of what, of who, came before
Of what I am, and who I should be
Looks from others
Questions of pain
I smile, wish they would ask more
Let my steel tell His story
Natural High
By Jo
Natural high
I hear the buzz
Almost as if I'm dreaming
Could this be real?
I cannot feel it
Another world is beckoning me
I feel my skin
Being etched
Carved like a beautiful statue
A tremendous feeling
Art created
A masterpiece for me to love
The Wait
By Jo
Anticipation
Blood rushes
Heart pounds
When will it start?
The magnificent art
I hear the buzz
I feel the needle
My skin tingles with excitement
Oh how wonderful
Yet horrid
The agonizing wait is
I pray each moment
For the needle to touch
The ink to be put in my skin
The seconds seem minutes
The minutes seem hours
I cannot take the wait much longer
Tattoo
By Jo
A tattoo is like a butterfly
Emerging from the cocoon
How beautiful the transformation is
Art upon a blank slate
The artist paints beauty
Self-expression is a wonderful thing
To be art yourself
How great it is
When you can show the world
What it means
