Mamma Doesn't Always Know Best!

I will never forget the day I got my first tattoo. It was a gift for my eighteenth birthday. I had wanted it for so long - ever since I did a research project on tattooing in gradeschool. I had the opportunity to interview a tattoo artist and watch him do a tattoo. I was fascinated.

I was nervous at first, but the artist was really friendly and put my mind at ease. I chose a design I liked from a book of flash, and he and I worked together to customize it. My mom told me I'd regret it, but I have a second one now and plan on getting more.

I couldn't stop staring at the tattoo after it had been completed. It was so beautiful, it brought tears to my eyes. A beautiful angel, carrying a bouquet of red roses in her hand. The other is of two cherubs, one handing the other a bouquet of daisies. They are both adorned in colorful robes. They are both very feminine and pretty. I have one on each ankle, and I love to show them off.

I had heard horror stories about how much it would hurt. Someone even told me they had fainted from the excruciating pain. But it wasnt painful at all. It was more of a burning, irritating sensation. Besides, it was worth the discomfort. I now have two beautiful pieces of artwork that I will carry with me forever. The one thing no one can ever take from me. The one thing that I have that makes me unique from everyone else.

I am glad that tattooing is becoming a more acceptable way of self-expression. It is a truly beautiful art form, and there are some really talented artists out there. My advice for anyone thinking of getting a tattoo is to think carefully about what they want to put on their bodies. Remember, it will be with you forever. And most important make sure you have an artist that you can feel comfortable with and communicate openly with. Your artist should treat you with respect and take the time to address your concerns. Also, if it's your first tattoo, you may want to bring a friend along for moral support. And don't worry about the pain. Whatever discomfort you feel will be worth it!
