For the Love of Music

Ever since I was about 4, I've wanted a tattoo. No one would ever peg me as the "type" to get a tattoo (read: I'm an honor student who does forensics and debate) and most people were surprised when I told them I was getting one for my 18th.

I spent a long time thinking about designs and placement until I made up my mind last November. I wanted the logo for the band Full Devil Jacket on my right shoulder blade.

Last October my best friend and I went with some other people to see Creed. Showing up 13 1/2 hours before the show turned out to be a good thing because we got to meet some really nice guys from the band that was going on first, Full Devil Jacket (they played before Collective Soul then Creed played last). We knew they had a song on the radio we really loved and figured their set would be good. That was an understatement - they were amazing on stage!

I went out and got their CD the next day and the music was so melodic it rocked and the lyrics were meaningful. Their music became really important to me (Senior year-- Stressfest) because I needed an escape. So I decided to get their logo because it immortalizes this time in my life, the stress, great times with my best friend and a love of music that is a driving force in my life.

I love art and what better way to say that than with a permanent form of art symbolizing art! I got the tattoo a few weeks ago, and I love it. When I was getting it done I actually considered screaming or crying or something because it hurt; then I realized it would be stupid to scream, it didn't hurt that bad.
