Where's the Blacklights and Fat Guy Drinking Whiskey?

When I turned 18 I was able to do a lot of cool things. I could smoke, even though I don't. I could buy a porn; never did that. And I could join the military; I did do that. But getting a tattoo never crossed my mind. Well, I am 19 now and one day my girl and I were walking in one of the local malls. She asked me if we could look at tattoos at a shop. I froze, could not think of anything to say. I looked at her and said sure. I could not believe that she asked me that, could she really want a tattoo??? Maybe after we see the shop, she won't want one anymore....

We get to the shop and I am very surprised. I always thought a tattoo parlor was some dirty place with black lights and a fat guy drinking whisky. Boy was I wrong. This place was open, clean, and looked like a doctor's office. He had all of his work on the walls and you could see the tattoo chairs. He greeted us as soon as we entered and my girl started asking some good questions. I walked off to look at the designs and started to get interested. I have always liked the tribal look and I was starting to get some ideas but I was still not sure. We talked about it on the way home and she said we would probably get them in a month. I agreed, but I was still very scared.

I did not get much sleep over the next few days. Images of needles and pain started getting over-shadowed by cool tribal designs I was looking at online. She asked if we could get them done next week to get it over with and I said yes. At this time I started to see that she was more scared then I was about getting it done. I started to feel much better when I found the design I wanted. God I could not wait.:)

This was it; there was no going back. I was standing there watching my girl get hers done on her lower back. She expected the pain to be horrible so she held her breath and almost fainted. She calmed down after her outline and came out of the chair with a great tattoo. My turn.... I sat down with my new Tool CD and player. He drew the design on my upper back and asked me if everything was all right. I said yes and he started. I won't lie; it's like being stung with a million bees in one spot. But after the outline it started to feel ok. He used a lot of ink because it was a tribal and it took about an hour. I asked half way how much it would be, and when he told me I did not care because I knew the design would look so cool.

After I was inked he handed me a sheet of paper that said how to care for my tattoo. I learned his name, thanked him, and told him I would be back. It did not swell, it only flaked a little, and it stopped hurting about 2 hours after it was over.

If you live in Upstate NY, near Albany, I urge you to go to Impulse Tattoo in Lathem NY. I will never go to anyone but Eric for my tattoo needs. Check out his ads on 103.5, 103.9 the EDGE.
