First Tattoo at 55

I am a 55 year old who has wanted to have a tattoo for years. I am a Masters Graduate and work for a global oil company.Because of my background and the community roles that I have,for example, University Governor, Church officer ect my friends could not believe that I was interested in getting a tattoo. My wife eventually accepted that I would do it and is supportive.

September 11th was a defining moment for me; you have to do what you want to do NOW as there is no guarantee that you will be around tomorrow. I took a lot of advice from this fantastic web site.I experimented with temporaries whilst on holiday in Orlando this month. I spoke to guys at the gym and got further good advice.A guy (son of one of my employees) recommended a reputable studio where he had a tattoo done recently.I looked at designs on this site and decided finally that I wanted a tribal armband.

The assistant in the studio (Dai+Pie Tattoo Studio, Swansea, Wales, UK)was extremely helpful and spent an hour helping me select the design which matched my ideas. It took 1 1/2 hours to complete and I was not bothered by the "pain". As I was doing this for me I had a positive and wanted to enjoy the process. Dai has done a fantastic job, I am absolutely ecstatic about it. I have found the whole experience liberating and I am very happy that I have done something which I wanted for a long time but was too worried about what others may think.

I am now looking after the tattoo in accordance with your aftercare advice. Thanks for being a great help.
