Aerosmith Rocks This Way with "Just Push Play" Tour
The Band Members and Their Tattoos

Aerosmith just recently visited Indianapolis, IN with their "Just Push Play" tour, and I was thrilled to visit the Verizon Wireless Music Center to see them. Steven Tyler, the voice behind the band, is one of the members who wore a tattoo long before it was the "cool" thing to do. Two other members of the band also sport body art - Tom Hamilton (bass guitar) and Joey Kramer (drums). I went to the concert hoping to catch a glimpse and get shots of their tattoos - unfortunately, it didn't quite turn out that way.

Tom and Joey had their tattoos totally covered up with their clothing,(actually, I think Joey's were covered up by his drums!) and I just happened to be standing on the wrong side of the stage to see Steven's. (merde!) It was so crowded there was no way I could have shuffled to the other side. He did actually turn sideways and his tattoo was facing right at me for a moment - and what was I doing at that moment? Changing film! Nevertheless, I did get some great shots and I hope you enjoy them. We also did catch a few loyal fans outside wearing Aerosmith tattoos. (See page 2 of this article.)

This picture of Steven was the closest I got to getting a shot of his tattoo. You can just see the upper portion above Joe Perry's shoulder. Steven's tattoo says "Ma Kin" and also has some flames around it. Tom apparently has a swallow on his chest, and Joey has a scorpion on his right forearm and an armband on his right upper arm. I really do hope to get a chance to meet these guys some day and get up-close shots of all of their body art - don't give up on me yet!

As you can see in this picture, Steven was also sporting some temporary art. I have noticed he has worn other painted designs in past performances as well. I think it adds a lot of personality to his look - if anything can possibly make him more dynamic than he already is! I think this proves that body art does not have to be permanent to be beautiful. (By the way, please feel free to click on the pictures for the full-sized version at any time.)

As far as I know, from my research, Joe Perry (lead guitar) does not have any tattoos. But he is such a hottie, I had to include a picture of him! Joe's stellar guitar playing during the concert totally blew me away! It's obvious Aerosmith just wouldn't be the same without him. If you're a devoted Joe Perry fan, you might want to check out the Joe Perry Project. For information on the JPP, visit The Joe Perry Project Homepage.

If you aren't already familiar with the "Just Push Play" tour, one of the great things Aerosmith has been doing is a special lawn performance. They had a second (smaller) stage set up right in the front (center) of the lawn, where they performed a few songs. I was surprised at how easily they moved through the crowd from the main stage to the lawn stage. So, don't think you've got bad seats if you can't afford the front row - I think they made a lot of fans very happy. Just don't grab Joe on his way back to the main stage - he thinks we're all "animals". (joke - see the concert and you'll understand!)

I was so busy during the first part of the concert, taking pictures, that I didn't really have much of a chance to relax and enjoy the music. So, after I was done taking the photos, I put my camera away and really took in the rest of the show. Aerosmith's music just has a way of getting to the very core of my soul - I found myself closing my eyes and swaying to the music like I was under some hypnotic spell. The spell broke when they played the last song - Sweet Emotion - and I discovered my lungs and screamed with the best of them.
