Your Birthday:
July 20th
When You Started Tattooing:
I began apprenticing in 1998.
How You Became Interested in Tattooing as a Profession:
I’d always loved painting and drawing the human figure, so it was a natural progression to go from painting bodies on canvas to painting with bodies as canvas.
Favorite Style/Genre of Tattoo:
I love the style of botanical/naturalist illustrations - anything from nature: animals, plants, etc.
Tattoo Artists You Are Inspired By:
Laura Vida, Guy Atchison, and Marie Wademan are artists I look to for inspiration. I’m excited by any work that has movement and energy, even if it isn’t my personal style.
Secular Artists You Are Inspired By:
Chinese brush paintings have also influenced both my painting and tattooing styles. I’m also inspired by the botanical illustrators of the 18th and 19th centuries, the all the old Renaissance Masters, as well as some more modern, abstract art works.
Other Hobbies/Interests:
I’ve not a lot of free time these days for hobbies, but I recently took up the violin, (much to the distress of the cats), and while I paint less than I want, it still is an important part of my life.

Personal Comments from Sasha:
Being a tattoo artist has been amazing – it is a gift to be able to make art for a living. Recently, I’ve been working with people who have scars they’d like to cover or surround with tattoo art. The process of taking the remains (scars) of a traumatic event and creating beautiful art is an incredible experience. I’ve been so lucky to be part of such a remarkable art from the deeply personal to the purely esthetic.
