Definition: Tapered claws and talons are actually pieces of jewelry that increase in gauge size from one point to the other. It’s very similar to tapering, as the jewelry can simply be moved short distances every few weeks to eventually stretch the hole to the largest size available. The danger of this method is moving the jewelry too far, too fast, too soon – causing damage to the fistula.
