Glossary Definition - Taping

From , former About.com Guide

Definition: Taping is the most common method used to stretch a piercing once a piercing has been stretched to the point where a larger sized taper is difficult to find or too expensive. A plug or tunnel is then wrapped with a layer of tape to increase the diameter of the jewelry, which is then inserted back into the hole. This is repeated (after each stretch has healed) until the desired size is reached.
