Glossary Definition - Weights (Piercing Stretching)

By Karen L. Hudson, About.com

Definition: Weights can be used to stretch a piercing by applying pressure that is created from a heavy weight hanging from the hole (fistula). This method is not recommended because it doesn’t stretch the hole evenly and can thin the skin around the hole, causing drooping and sagging. Weights should only be used for short periods of time, if at all.
