In the News: Canadian Prisons Set Up Tat Shops; IL Lowers Age Minimum

Sunday April 4, 2004
In an effort to stop the spread of tattoo-related diseases in Canada prisons, an experimental project will take place in 6 locations - to open up "legitimate" tattoo parlors, staffed by inmates, in order to provide tattoo services to convicts.

Also in the news this week, Illinois will finally be lowering its age minimum from 21 to 18 for those interested in getting tattoos. This same legislation will also increase the penalties and fines against anyone tattooing illegally.

These and other news stories can be found on the Body Art in the News page.
