Why do you think tattoos have become so mainstream in recent times? Is it because of rebellion or self-expression, or is it because there is less of a stigma attached to them? Cast your vote on the discussion board and find out what the other members are saying.

I believe the main reason tatoos, piercings etc.. are so popular these days is because freedom of speech has been sharply threatened. It seems if you’re saying what the powers’ that be agree with (or want they want you to say) all is well. However, as soon as something is said that is perceived to be against their belief system, people get black-balled, chastised, censured etc… So, people tatooing their bodies allows free expression that belongs to the individual for the whole world to see (indelible personal expression) — censure the expression if you will, it’s a permanent expression. However, without a doubt everyone has different reasons and means of expression. But if you take a close look, in America tatooing is mostly being practiced by the younger generation. I’m sure there are a thousand opinions out there about this and this is mine.
