In the News - OK Tattoo Bill Passes Senate; Study Says Tattoo Ink Could Be Harmful

Sunday March 20, 2005
The good news this week is that the bill that will (hopefully) eventually lead to the legalization of tattooing in the state of Oklahoma has cleared another hurdle by passing the Senate. Next it is on to the House.

The bad news this week is that a study was recently conducted to discover the properties of several different tattoo inks. The funny thing about it is that the study's conclusion was pretty much that it was inconclusive, but the group decided that based upon their inconclusive results, tattoo ink should be regulated by the FDA because it could be harmful. From this has stemmed dozens of news article titles ranging from "tatoo inks may contain harmful ingredients" to "tattoo inks toxic". And this is how the hysteria begins.
