News: Oklahoma One Step Closer, Two Steps Away

From Karen L. Hudson, About.com GuideApril 23, 2006

Oklahoma has come one step closer to legalizing tattoos, which officially pushes the Bill farther than it has ever gone in past years. It passed in the House with a vote of 70 to 28. Next it waits for approval from the Senate and then a final signature of approval from the Governor. Like South Carolina, there will no doubt be delays in deciding what restrictions will accompany the legalization and how to regulate it most effectively.

I agree that it is about time Oklahoma passes this law. However, we must remember…this is the “bible belt.” In Oklahoma City there is now about 5 tattoo parlors opened up already. They get fined about week or two though. The one loophole that keeps them in business is the fact that tattoos are not permanent anymore. They all offer a licensed tattoo removal process which makes tattooing a non-permanent deal. Great news. Lets see if it goes through the Senate.

Yeah, that’s what they said about the Oklahoma lottery, zac. It passed with a 2-1 margin.
