How to Take Good, Clear Tattoo Photographs

Sunday May 20, 2007
Taking a good, clean picture of your tattoo doesn't have to be difficult, but there are a lot of common mistakes people make that result in bad quality photos. A lot of the submissions I receive for the galleries may be good tattoos, but I can't publish blurry, dark or grainy photos, and neither will any other tattoo magazines you may want to submit your photo(s) to - and frankly it's an insult to the artist who created that piece of art on your skin. Here's some quick tips on taking a shot of your tattoo that does the artist's work justice and is worthy of being published.

Note: The tattoo featured here was inked by Rich McKenney, now of Studio 13 in Ft. Wayne, Indiana (formerly of Grade A Tattoos).
