The Infamous Tramp Stamp - Are the Rumors True?

Sunday June 17, 2007
The current phrase used to refer to lumbar tattoos on women is "tramp stamp" among other derogatory coinage such as "whore brands." Is it true that women who have tattoos on their lower backs are sexually promiscuous? This article explores the widespread claims that there is a scientific correlation between lumbar tattoos and immoral behavior in women.

I totally disagree with the “tramp stamp” label. I am a 38 year old, happily married for 18 years and got a similar tattoo on my lower back for because I loved the design and to please my husband. I’m very proud of my back piece and it certainly doesn’t make me a tramp.

Scientific? Hmmmm, I’ve heard of “science” being used as a pretext for overt racism/racial supremacism before, guess it applies to sexism too.

THE WAY A WOMAN BEHAVES INDICATES WHETHER SHES A “TRAMP” OR NOT, NOT WHAT SHE CHOOSES TO HAVE INKED ON HER AND WHERE

it’s been my experience that woman with the lower back tattoo’s (tramp stamp) are wilder in bed than those without, not a scientific thing, but usually if she has one, you’re in for a good and satisfying time

tattoos are “i’m not a prude” advertisements. It’s no wonder prudes hate them.

My wife has a “tramp stamp.”

When we are doing our conjugal business, I find the thing rather distracting.

My name is Peter; the stamp? Joe.

“tramp stamp” .. created and used by Boys that will never _EVER_ get into the hot girls panties … a typical way to sound derogatory towards women that make those losers crazy but they are too dork for them.

I think the label “tramp stamp” is LAME. You could have a virgin mary tatted on your back, does that mean your a skank? No, its a religious purpose, tattoos were mainly for meaning. Or just self appeal. Or whatever the purpose is for. Every tattoo, piercing, etc has a secret comical meaning. But does that secret meaning really matter? No, whatever meaning you choose for your tattoo is your business, and that meaning doesn’t make everyone else’s meaning the same one.
