In the News - Woman Pleads Guilty in Vermont Tattooing/Staph Case

Sunday February 24, 2008
In November of 2007, 3 cases of MRSA (Staph infection) were traced back to a couple of unlicensed tattooers in Vermont. The woman - 30 year-old Tiffany Mills - has pleaded guilty in the case of unlicensed tattooing. As part of her plea deal, she won't serve any jail time but she's on probation for 2 years and has to complete the state's drug program. Her husband's case is yet to be tried in court.

omg that happened to my husband. his friend was trying to make anmae for himself and did a tat on my husband forearm right on top where everyone can see it. it looked for the first day and then after that it got all gross and i took him to the hospital only to find out that he had staph. it was gross and he was in a lot of pain. it was so gross. so i highly suggest that if you are getting a tattoo go to shop and watch them open everything!!!!!!!!!

When it comes to catching staph you can catch it even from licenced places as it is naturaly present on the skin at all times. The main difference is a licenced place is highly cleaner thus the risk is majorly reduced but it is still possible.

As for scratchers most of the leading tattooist started as that or there teachers did yes its still alive today and i myself am one. I get all my supplies from the same supplier as my local tattoo shop and everyone of my mates i have tattooed sees me open everything. I know my work is not going to be as good as the professional but im learning and getting there.

Just dont always be so harsh on scratchers an dont forget no matter who does it be it a piercing or a tattoo there are always risks.
