As the mother of a Type 1 diabetic, I am more educated on the subject than I ever hoped to be. I get several emails every year asking if it's okay for people with certain diseases to still get a tattoo, but diabetes is the one that comes up in discussion the most. Unfortunately, there isn't really a simple "yes" or "no" answer to the question, as there are a lot of variables that have to be taken into consideration. Because of that, this article turned out much longer than most that I write, but I hope you'll take the time to read it all. It's written toward both collectors and their artists, and even explains how to handle the very scary possibility of a client going into diabetic seizure during a tattoo. If you have any additional questions, feel free to email me.
