Definition:
A taper is a slender cone-shaped tool used for stretching piercings.
Examples:
Tapers usually will only increase the size of a piercing by 2 gauges. The taper is inserted into the hole and gently stretches the piercing to allow a larger piece of jewelry to be put in its place. Tapers can be made of surgical stainless steel, bone or other piercing-safe materials.
